PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) is a way to finance energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation upgrades to homes and buildings. PACE can pay for new efficient and/or renewable energy improvements such as heating and cooling systems, lighting improvements, solar panels, water pumps, insulation, and more for almost any property – homes, commercial, industrial, non-profit, and agricultural.
This unique financing mechanism is tied to the property, rather than the individual, and eligibility is based primarily on property value and equity.
PACE saves property owners money and makes their property more valuable. PACE pays for 100% of a project’s costs. This financing amount is then repaid over 5 to 20 years (up to 25 years for qualifying solar projects), with an assessment or special tax added to the property tax bill. PACE financing also creates jobs, promotes economic development, and helps to protect the environment.
Who can apply for PACE services?
Residents and Businesses in unincorporated Sacramento County and, in the case of the County Clean Energy CFD, the Cities of Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova and Galt.
