Document Review Schedule - ​The Survey Department reviews various documents prior to approval for filing or recording. Review comments will be returned within twenty business days* of first submittal, and ten days* of subsequent submittals. *Turn around times may be extended during periods of unusually high workloads.​

Pay Survey Service Fees

Payments for the following Surveys Service fee – Certificate of Compliance (All types), Application/Deposit fees for Records of Survey, Subdivision Maps and Parcel Maps, Boundary Lot Line Adjustment, Valuation Acreage (Parcel and Final Map), Recording Filing Fee and Park in Lieu Fees can be made in our GovHub payment platform.

Obtain an application from Planning & Environmental Review for a tentative parcel or subdivision map.

Obtain estimates from several surveyors or qualified engineers for the cost of doing the survey and map. 

If your property has been surveyed and a map filed, obtain a copy of the map from the GIS Online Map, the Recorders' office or your title company, and see if any corners were monumented. 

If your property has not been mapped, then you must have it surveyed.

For public easements, contact the SIPS section to see if any easements are shown on the Assessor's parcel pages or if any easements show up on recorded maps. 

For private easements, check your Title Report or contact a title company to obtain one.

Our policy for map review timelines are as follows:

  • ​First Review - 20 working days for County Surveys to complete
  • Second Review - 10 working days
  • Additional Map Reviews (if needed) - 10 working days​

What We Do

  • Review of final maps, parcel maps, certificates of compliance, record of surveys, and corner records
  • Index of surveys performed by Sacramento County in conformance with state law
  • Records of street centerline ties and stationing and a listing of benchmarks established by Sacramento County 
  • Re-establishment of survey monuments damaged by capital improvement projects 
  • Surveying services in support of public infrastructure
    and County projects including
    • acquisition and disposal of real property
    • horizontal and vertical control
    • topographic mapping and flood related studies 
  • Repository for unfiled maps and corner records​​
