Hearing Bodies

The following formal hearing bodies are able to make the final decision on certain projects and hold regular meetings open to the public. The County fosters public engagement and encourages public participation at these meetings.

Board of Supervisors

The highest hearing body in Sacramento County composing an elected body of five representatives representing five districts.

Planning Commission

A commission composed of volunteers elected by the Board of Supervisors to make final decisions or reccomendations on certain land use projects.

Subdivision Review Committee & Zoning Administrator

Reccomendation Bodies

The following committees provide reccomendations for consideration by hearing bodies which can make formal decisions on projects.

Community Planning Advisory Councils

15 separate councils representing 15 areas composed of volunteers appointed by the Board of Supervisors that facilitate and encourage direct citizen participation early in the planning process when it is easier for project proponents and decision-makers to respond to public concerns.

Project Review Committee

A committee made up of representatives of various review agencies, and is intended to provide applicants with transparency to the review and approval process, early identification of problems, and early intervention and issue resolution.

Other Reccommendation Bodies

The following committees provide, from time to time, reccomendations for consideration by hearing bodies for projects which may affect specific topics or areas of interest within the community.

A commission composed of volunteers elected by the Board of Supervisors to make final decisions or reccomendations on certain land use projects.
